Operating in Iowa in 2026 requires understanding the Biennial Reporting distinction between LLCs and Corporations. States Business Consulting ensures your Hawkeye entity stays compliant from Des Moines and Cedar Rapids to Davenport.

STEP 01

Fast Track Filing (SOS)

Formalize your LLC ($50) or Corporation via the Secretary of State's Fast Track Filing portal. Iowa is consistently ranked as one of the most cost-effective states for business formation.

III. Workforce & Employer Systems

Employer standards are managed by Iowa Workforce Development (IWD):

Unemployment Tax (MyIowaUI)

Employers must register for UI tax through the MyIowaUI portal. For 2026, the first $20,400 of each employee's wages are taxable for unemployment purposes.

Workers' Comp (DWC)

Mandatory for all employers, even those with only one part-time employee. Iowa does not have a "minimum employee" threshold for workers' compensation coverage.
