Register for Sales & Use Tax, Admissions & Amusement Tax, and Employer Withholding through the Comptroller’s Combined Registration Online Application (CRA).

Local Licensing & Traders

Many Maryland businesses require a "Traders License" or other professional licenses from the Clerk of the Circuit Court in the county where the business is located.

II. Compliance & 2026 Mandates

April 15 Annual Report

All active entities must file an Annual Report & Personal Property Tax Return by April 15, 2026. The filing fee is generally $300. Missing this deadline results in the entity becoming "Not in Good Standing."

III. Workforce & Employer Systems

Employer standards are managed by the Maryland Department of Labor (DOL):

Unemployment Insurance (Beacon)

Employers must register for a UI account via the Beacon system. Quarterly wage reports and contributions are mandatory for businesses with employees.

Workers' Compensation (WCC)

Maryland law requires almost all employers to carry workers' compensation insurance. Compliance is monitored by the Maryland Workers' Compensation Commission.
